NCAA Men's Basketball Coaches
Tournament Records
Each chart ranks coaches based on winning percentages of tournament games. For each coach, the entry contains his tournament won/loss record and percentage, the number of years as a college coach, and a breakdown of his Final Four appearances. |
For those who just can't get enough of this stuff --- Please visit my School Rankings site with the same year by year rankings and statistics that are found here for coaches for all schools that have ever played in the NCAA Tournament. |

For each year, all active coaches with at least 10 tournament games are ranked after the tournament is played (except those years before 1950 when only five games are required). |
Years in Italics have no qualifying coaches. |

The more exclusive club - for each year, all active and former coaches with at least 20 tournament games are ranked after the tournament is played. The first year to have a coach qualify was 1956. |

These coaches are ranked by winning percentage. Those on the list either participated in 30 or more games or accomplished something that I found impressive or interesting. Coaches are listed with all the schools they coached during their careers. |

All Time Greats |
This data collection was inspired by a 1993 ranking of
active coaches I found in a Dick Vitale book called
"Tourney Time". Each year I updated the list in the margins
of the book until it became clear a more permanent solution
was needed. This web site is that solution. See the "References"
link below for the sources of all the information here. Though
it is pretty obvious, I should probably say that I am not associated
in any way with the NCAA and they have nothing to do with this
site except as noted in the references where I used their publications
to acquire data.
If you have any comments, corrections, etc, feel free to email me and I'll try to update the info.
